Foundation Song
... when the shaman is present, sings ...
one
in the very early dawn
the shaman dreams a place
where he can expand his wings
flying in the high branches
of the tree of life
he is silence, deep silence
he sees the land, he sees the wind
he sees the daughter of the valley from afar
she is near, intimately near
bowing in reverence he falls
falls deeper, deeper
ripping off dust, attachment and sorrow
divining dense empty spaces
he stands in the stream
muddy feet drawn by gravity
with his strong voice he begins to sing
his song weaves the big strength
into his wide arms breathing slow
attending the three portals to open
he hears the daughter of the valley
play a new tune on her flute
steaming all through
pulsing all through
into the flow
two
with the thunder of the rising sun
he steps on the holy rock
concentrating intensity
he flies inside
going down is coming up
in this present eternity
caring, embracing them all
he knows them all
one by one he lovingly holds them all
weaving the love
of the big breeding bird
into the expanding field
three
the weaving field
nourishes every soul
with rooted trust
this flowing field
strengthens every soul
with vital energy
this gracious field
comforts every soul
with shining beauty
one open field
offers every soul
a unique intuitive flow
one ageless field
holds every soul
in sincere wisdom
this holy weaving field
opens every soul
to the unfolding of stillness
four
feeling the weaving
the shaman hears the wolf from afar
determined strong vibration
sensing the weaving
he sees the falcon fly circles
brutal-clear view
intuiting the weaving
he knows the snake-dance inside
beautiful flowing dance, pure wisdom
five
uniting all this
his dense presence is so sharp
it splits the dawn in two
opening the path
to the holy realm
this quiet realm
where the roots of the tree of life
reach into the emptiness
creating, uniting, flying
flowing along
the shaman gives
his loving into the stream
dissolving he is this love
opening, caring, seeing
he is there
deep inside the daughter of the valley sings.
